What is the fastest-growing social media app of all time?

One month ago the fastest-growing social media app was Instagram. You may also say that the fastest-growing platform was ChatGPT. But it’s the past now. Now, at this moment Threads is at the top of everything.

Now, Threads is the fastest-growing social media app of all time. It should be at the top, although Threads is from Meta. And everything that Mark Zuckerberg touches turns into gold. We will talk about the statistics of Threads now but before that, I have to say something more about Threads.

Threads vs Twitter

social media

You may think that Threads is a copy of Twitter. And you’re right on that. Threads are not going to say that but we all know that it’s a copy of Twitter. How can it not be? It works exactly like Twitter. Maybe Elon Musk made a great mistake by open source the algorithm of Twitter and by firing many Twitter employees (It’s just a joke, don’t take it seriously. Although the copying part is true).

Growth of Threads

Now, I will talk about the growth of Threads. After launching Threads, Mark Zuckerberg continuously threads about the analytics of the new social media platform. If you don’t know what thread means then let’s know about it. On Twitter, if someone shares their thoughts then it’s called a tweet and on Threads social media it’s called a thread.

So, at first Mark Zuckerberg posted the first thread as “Let’s do this. Welcome to Threads”. After that, he confirmed that Threads got 2 million sign-ups in the first two hours. Which was stunning. And in four hours after launching Threads, it got 5 million sign-ups; in seven hours, the number turned to 10 million.

This new member of Meta completed its 30 million sign-ups the next morning and in the next 24 hours, it turned into 70 million. But the most recognizable number is 100 million. Surprisingly, Threads completed its first 100 million sign-ups in 5 days and that makes Threads the fastest-growing social media app of all time.

The Journey of 100 Million

If we talk about other platform journeys to 100 million sign-ups then those will be much longer time compared to Threads. For ChatGPT it takes 2 months, for TikTok, it takes 9 months. That means ChatGPT is now the second fastest-growing platform in the entire world and TikTok is in third place. One of the most popular social media platforms is Instagram which is also a part of Meta and this platform takes 2 years, and 6 months to reach 100 million sign-ups. For Snapchat, the time is 3 years and 8 months. It’s time to talk about the king of all social media platforms, which is Facebook. Facebook reached 100 million sign-ups after 4 years, 6 months of its launching. For Telegram it’s 5 years, 1 month. Next, we have Uber (5 years, 10 months), Pinterest (5 years, 11 months), etc.

So, you can see how fast Threads got its first 100 million sign-ups. It just took 5 days! Can you imagine how fast it is!? Threads don’t even take a week to complete this task. It was so fast that it would be hard to break this record for upcoming platforms.

Does Threads is Perfect?

This is also a very important part to talk about. Threads is not a perfect platform at this moment at all. Yes, we know that the beginning of Threads is great and perfect. However, it’s not an ideal platform at this time. They don’t have a web version of Threads.

There are many features Threads may need to have, but it doesn’t have those features. Like I can’t embed Threads like I can do it on Twitter. Although it’s just the beginning. I’m sure that there are a lot of things that are waiting for just. Let’s see what going to happen in the future.

Conclusion

We’re now at the end of our journey to know about the race of those platforms. Threads is the fastest-growing social media app at this time and it’s going to stay at this place for the next few years for sure. Let’s see which platform is going to take this place next. But that will be very hard for any platform to reach 100 million sign-ups within 5 days or less.
