Grameenphone eSIM

Grameenphone is introducing an eSIM, which allows a mobile to connect to the user’s operator of choice without needing to purchase a physical SIM card.

And it’s a new technology in Bangladesh. Grameenphone is the first company in Bangladesh that will be going to give us this kind of awesome facility.

Grameenphone is trying to make Bangladesh a very well Digital Bangladesh. eSIM will be available in Grameenphone Experience Centers and GP Online Shop soon. Maybe in some days.

But, you can’t use eSIM on every device. Actually, all smartphone doesn’t support eSIM. You need the latest smartphones for that. Grameenphone also gives a list of smartphone phones (List of eSIM supported smartphones).

What are the benefits of eSIM?

There are a lot of benefits of having an eSIM. Let me tell you some of them.

  • It’s eco-friendly

If we are starting to use eSIM then we don’t need physical SIM ever. And that for we also don’t need to cut down any tree to make physical SIM. It’s really a very good point or benefit of eSIM (Maybe the main one).

  • Easy to switch operator

You can easily change your operator. Like, if you are using Grameenphone eSIM and tomorrow you want to change it. You like to switch from Grameenphone to Robi. Then all you have to do is, go to the Robi customer care center and scan a Qr code and you are all good to go.

  • Easy to switch operator

It’s very easy to switch operators if you want to switch your operator. You just need to scan a Qr code!

  • Uses less physical phone space

In the future, all phones going to support eSIM. And for that, we don’t need a space for a physical SIM. For that, smartphones don’t need a SIM tray. The space can be used for batteries or other things to make the smartphone much better.

There is no need for SIM tray pinholes. And it will make the smartphone much better and more protected.

  • One SIM for all devices

If you have more than one device, like smartphones, laptops, tablets that support eSIM, then you don’t need to use your hotspot ever. You can literally use one eSIM for all devices.

How to purchase or activate a new eSIM?

It’s really easy to purchase an eSIM or activate an eSIM. Just follow the following step and the steps are given by Grameenphone.

  1. Choose your plan
  2. Choose your mobile number
  3. Complete the biometric verification process
  4. Turn on the internet connection in your handset
  5. Scan the QR Code found in the SIM kit
  6. Follow the step-by-step process based on your handset

How to replace a physical SIM for eSIM?

To convert your traditional SIM card into eSIM you can visit your nearest Operator Center or customer care center with your eSIM supported device and fulfill the eSIM purchase procedure.
